SRH vs KKR, Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Kolkata Knight Riders Match Preview

Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Kolkata Knight Riders

The second game of the Saturday doubleheader would be a promising thriller as it would be contest between Kolkata Knight Riders who are looking to seal playoffs’ spot and the Hyderabad team who are already in the playoffs.

WHEN: 19 May, 8:00 pm

WHERE: Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium

PITCH REPORT:

The pitch at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium is usually a belter for the batsman while it slows down considerably as the game progresses.

WEATHER REPORT:

It would be a warm evening in Hyderabad.

HEAD TO HEAD:

SRH have won: 5

KKR have won: 8

BACKGROUND:

SRH:

Sunrisers are coming from back-to-back defeats to Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Their bowling attack was put under some serious pressure on good batting surfaces and they were outclassed in their last two games.

In a way, the game against RCB was good for SRH because their batsmen were tested in a huge run chase and the bowlers were under the pump against a quality batting line-up.

KKR:

The mood in the purple camp must be tensed as the Kolkata Knight Riders would desperately look for sealing this one to secure a place in the play-offs.

They already have 14 points in their kitty, but their inferior run rate is a matter of concern for the team. If they lose today, they might end up losing their spot to the Royal Challengers Bangalore and the Mumbai Indians.

The team would look to Sunil Narine for another solid start and Chris Lynn would also want to do a repeat of what he did when the two teams last met. Captain Dinesh Karthik has been pretty good throughout and been grabbing not-out scores for fun in run chases.

TEAM NEWS:

SRH:

  • Basil Thampi didn’t have an impressive outing, but he is expected to keep his place.
  • The chances of playing Yusuf Pathan and Wridhhiman Saha is still unclear.

Probable XI:

Shikhar Dhawan, Alex Hales, Kane Williamson(c), Manish Pandey, Deepak Hooda, Shakib Al Hasan, Shreevats Goswami(w), Rashid Khan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar/Basil Thampi, Siddarth Kaul, Sandeep Sharma

KKR:

  • Piyush Chawla can make a comeback today.
  • Javon Searles is another doubtful starter

Probable XI:

Chris Lynn, Sunil Narine, Robin Uthappa, Andre Russell, Dinesh Karthik(w/c), Nitish Rana, Shubman Gill, Javon Searles, Piyush Chawla/ Prasidh Krishna/Shivam Mavi, Kuldeep Yadav

PLAYERS TO WATCH OUT FOR:

SRH:

  • Williamson is having a stellar season so far.
  • Rashid Khan and Siddarth Kaul are the leading wicket-takers of team SRH.

KKR:

  • Captain Karthik is the leading run-getter for the Kolkata side.
  • Narine and Kuldeep are the two stand-out bowlers for the team.

OUR PREDICTION:

It’s a do-or-die match for the Kolkata Knight Riders. They would want to seal this one for making it to the play-offs. On the other hand, Sunrisers Hyderabad are in a safe position. They have nothing to lose.
